Creating a gorgeous landscape is a tough job. From planting, watering and laying walking paths to developing a design that flows naturally, there's a whole lot of planning involved. When your landscape is complete, you might be wondering if there's a way to highlight important focal points of your garden decor. Garden statues are the perfect solution. They're easy to install, long lasting, and they also attract the eyes of your guests wherever you want to draw attention. |
Finding the Perfect Spot for Your Garden Statues
Unless you did a lot of landscape planning beforehand with statues included, a garden statue is probably an after thought. You might already have everything in place, but just need to fill some empty space. There are several places in a garden where you can get the most usage out of your statues.
Garden Centerpiece
If you have an empty space at or near the very center of your yard or garden, this is a great place for a garden statue. The statue itself can become the centerpiece of your decor. It will enhance the entire garden and give your decor a neat appearance. A centerpiece statue is usually large in size, heavy built and very decorative to match other items in your yard. To make your statue really stand out at dusk and night, illuminate it with some surrounding solar lights or sensor lights.
Garden Focal Points
Focal points are areas in your yard or garden where you would like to attract attention. These can be enhanced with medium-sized statues that match your decor theme. The focal point might be a turn on a pathway, a lovely flower bed, your favorite section of your vegetable garden, your swing or patio area, etc. Any place you want to catch the eye is a great place for a statue.
Break Up Garden Monotony
Another way to use statues in your garden is to break up the monotony of certain areas. Sprinkle mini-statues along pathways or to outline flower beds or near a tree to make it appealing. Maybe you have an animal theme in your garden with squirrels, birds, frogs, bears, deer, etc. You can use small animal statues in different locations to add flavor to your yard. Small statues can be placed atop picnic or patio tables, or at entrances to your drive way or garden path.
No matter what type of theme you use, statues will only add to its beauty. There are statues of religious figures such as angels, and also animals, flowers or plants, children, gargoyles for a Gothic theme, bird houses, sun dials, fountains and many other designs. You can usually find statues to match whatever look and feel you'd like to accomplish.
Copper or Stone
Two common types of statues are copper and stone. Copper is commonly used to create a rustic look in a garden or yard. The copper statue is a deep bronze color when you purchase it, but will gradually turn a greenish color after exposure to the sun. This greenish color is actually a beautiful finish, similar to that of our Statue of Liberty today. Unlike other metals, copper adopts this finish instead of rusting, so you can enjoy it for many years to come.
Stone statues are also very popular. They are often used to create a prestigious or elegant look in your garden, and are also long lasting. The stone comes in a variety of color tones so you can choose the statues that look great with your decor.
No matter what type of yard decor you have, enhancing it with statues is an affordable, long-term way to attract attention to your favorite areas.
